Solano County Triple P
The Solano County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution declaring January as Positive Parenting Awareness month in Solano County.
Positive Parenting Awareness Month is a time to recognize the vital role that parents – including birth, foster, and adoptive parents, grandparents, and other relatives or family friends – play in raising happy, healthy, thriving children. Positive parenting builds healthy brains, enabling children to develop the skills to communicate, solve problems, manage emotions and make healthy choices throughout life. It’s a chance to encourage all families to seek and accept support from friends, family members, neighbors, and local resources, such as the Triple P – Positive Parenting Program.
With funding from First 5 Solano Children and Families Commission and Mental Health Services Act, Triple P is now offered throughout Solano county by eight agencies and has served over 1,000 parents within the last year. First 5 Solano and MHSA will continue to work together with community partners and parents, many of which are represented here today to continue to be committed to providing parents with the resources needed to become a more confident and effective in their parenting skills. Let’s make positive parenting a daily habit and start the new year with a renewed focus on our family relationships and parenting practices. Being a positive parent is the most important job imaginable.
During Positive Parenting Awareness Month, Triple P partners will offer parenting classes and events, provided in English and Spanish. For more information and a list of Triple P events please click on the calendar tab.
